As with all new beginnings we feel a great sense of excitement, and pride as we start a new year and we

welcome new families who join us.

Our close-knit community is valued for its ongoing support and involvement as we celebrate the children’s many achievements together.

We believe that Every child has the great potential of ‘Much in Little’ and hope that very Family welcomed through our doors upholds the Fundamental British Values and shares our Vision

to work together to ‘Enable Successful Futures’ for All.

We promote a safe culture and provide a caring ethos to ensure
a happy, secure learning environment for our children.
Our vision encourages and challenges all learners to
achieve their potential
hrough a broad, vibrant and meaningful curriculum.

Nurturing
& Early Years

At Perton Primary Academy, the Early Years Foundation Stage pride themselves in creating a nurturing environment in which all children are able to flourish.  Care and consideration is taken to plan and create an extensive range of academic opportunities that enable children to reach their full potential.  Equal opportunities are provided in and outside of the classroom through a range of provision designed to engage and stimulate the

minds of the children within our setting.

We plan to cater for the strengths and needs of the unique child and continuously reflect on the effectiveness and impact of teaching and learning.  We uphold strong communication links with our parents to strengthen the child’s learning journey through the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We work to create a setting where children feel safe and can

play and explore, actively learn and create and think critically.  These opportunities are established through a multi-sensory approach to learning, which is accessible for all types of children and is designed to capture and inspire the inquisitive nature of children in Early Years.

Enrichment

At Perton Primary Academy we want children to believe in themselves and have a passion for learning and knowledge. Our children are reflective practitioners who think about not only what they have learnt but how they went about learning it and the skills they used. We want them to go into the wider world as well rounded, happy, aspirational and forward-thinking responsible citizens.  Importantly, we want them to remain life-long learners

adaptable to changing technological advances.

Enrichment activities and Educational visits:

In our setting, your son or daughter will be inspired by the widest possible range of activities on offer. Our philosophy is that children learn best from first hand, memorable experiences. Throughout the year we organise well-planned enrichment activities such as trips, workshops and theatre

visits linked to their curriculum topics. Children have at least three of these opportunities over the year. We also ensure that they have an opportunity to participate in an out of school club.

British Values

Fundamental British values underpin our core values at Perton Primary Academy. We strive to promote fundamental British values throughout school and it is embedded within our curriculum.

We encourage democracy by allowing children to participate in regular votes in class. In key stage two, children elect their own members for the school council.

Parents have also been involved in voting for school uniform choices.

The school council are involved in choices made within school such as what resources are needed for the playground and they are also involved in interviewing new members of staff. Students have the chance to express their views about school through termly pupil questionnaires. Subject leaders regularly involve children in pupil interviews to gage their feelings about core and non-core subjects.

Children learn about rule of law with regular visits from our

Police Community Support Officers. In Year 4, children have the opportunity to become ‘Junior Cadets’ and learn skills during a ten week course led by the local Police Community Support Officers. In key stage two, children learn about law and democracy through their topic on the early lawmakers.

Inclusion

All of our pupils are entitled to a broad, balanced curriculum, delivered in a relevant and differentiated manner, enabling progression and continuity.

We believe that the teaching and learning, achievements and well-being of every one matters. We foster an ethos in which positive attitudes to gender, equality, cultural diversity and special needs of all kinds are actively promoted.

Planning for individual children or groups of children is based on informed observation and assessment of learning. Teaching is responsive to different learning styles and takes account of diverse cultural backgrounds and linguistic needs. Teachers ensure that the classroom is an inclusive environment in which pupils feel that their contributions are valued. We have recently (December 2016) been awarded enhanced

dyslexia friendly status which enables all children to achieve their full potential.

Parents are fully involved in every stage of any SEND decisions and interventions that take place within school. Teachers, children and parents all share targets and review these on a termly basis (more if needed) to ensure everyone feels fully involved and valued in the process.
